eLearning Africa - Young African Women Use Cutting Edge Computing in Schools

Africans have worked with us and our local partners to create their own innovative solutions for widening access to information technology in education and training for several years now. In the run-up to the continent’s most important event on ICT in education – eLearning Africa – we’re looking back on some educational success stories with our desktop virtualisation solutions in Africa.

Tanzanian schools wanted to upgrade their outdated IT infrastructure especially for their female students. AfricAid, a non-profit organisation that supports girls’ education in Africa, could not justify the cost of installing and managing PCs. They turned to NComputing because desktop virtualisation gave them so much better value for the schools. The benefits spanned from improved performance and reduced costs to low power consumption and decreased need for ongoing maintenance.

AfricAid has confirmed they saved thousands of dollars on the installation and the new computer labs are a fundamental component of a project that’s offering Tanzanian girls a brighter future.
