Zambia, May 28, 2010 - NComputing, Inc., the global leader in low-cost virtual desktops for Windows and Linux with over 2.5 million devices deployed, has announced a program intended to reach every African country's school system with the benefits of shared computing. At the eLearning Conference in Zambia, the company invited Ministries of Education, NGOs, and technology partners across Africa to join in a partnership approach to deploy showcase sites. The Catalyst program matches entrepreneurs with local schools to enable sustainable development of low-cost computing, bringing low-cost, high-performing computing to millions more African children. As part of this program, NComputing will offer no-cost products, training, and support to Education Ministries, NGOs, and qualified local technology partners who registered at the show.

At the eLearning Conference, NComputing announced a multifaceted effort to accelerate adoption of the technology on a widespread basis andwill provide no-cost products for at least two showcase classrooms in each African country to Ministries demonstrating interest. In addition, the company will make Catalyst kits available to all qualified NGOs and local technology companies who work with the Ministries to support the schools. These Catalyst kits are a collection of NComputing products and access to training and support, along with preferred education pricing, provided at no cost so that local organizations can deploy the technology.

"Through this program and the disruptive economics of our product offering, we hope to greatly expand the benefits of shared computing to students in Africa," said Stephen Dukker, Chairman and CEO of NComputing. "We know that it takes partnerships to create sustainable progress on a broad scale across the geographies and cultures of Africa, potential partners are invited to register for the free benefits of the program and get started in this ambitious work."

This solution costs less than any other thin client option in the marketplace at a quarter of the cost of desktop PCs, while providing a low power, rich multimedia desktop experience for every user.

NComputing's early success has been in the education sector, where it most recently achieved 20% of U.S. K-12 desktop computing purchases. With the economic downturn, education and commercial enterprises such as banks, retailers, and manufacturers have increasingly turned to NComputing to help them cut computer purchase and maintenance costs. NComputing customers typically cut their PC acquisition costs by 75%, operating costs by 75%, and electricity costs by 90%.

The NComputing solution takes advantage of the fact that today's PCs are so powerful that the vast majority of users only need a small fraction of the computing capacity. NComputing taps this unused capacity so that it can be simultaneously shared by many users. Each user's monitor, keyboard, and mouse are connected to a small and highly reliable NComputing access device, which is then connected to the shared PC. NComputing's award-winning vSpace desktop virtualization software provides each user with a rich multimedia computing experience and their own computing session.
