Arrow ECS' Alternative Technology Group Signs Distribution Agreement with NComputing Inc.

NComputing virtual desktops enable up to 30 users to share a single computer for less than $100 per user.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (Feb. 18, 2009) -- Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions, a business segment of Arrow Electronics Inc. [NYSE: ARW], today announced its Alternative Technology group has signed an agreement with NComputing Inc., a leading provider of ultra-low-cost computing, to distribute NComputing’s X-series and L-series virtual desktops to resellers in North America.

With more than one million virtual desktops sold in the past two years, NComputing is a leading supplier of low-cost desktop virtualization solutions. NComputing’s products enable a single computer to be virtualized and shared between several users to significantly maximize capacity without inhibiting each user’s individual computing needs. The X-series virtual desktop solution from NComputing uses one watt of electricity, compared to 110 watts for each computer. The L-series connects across a standard Ethernet local-area network for users that are more than 10 meters away from the shared computer. The solutions have been deployed by businesses, factories, call centers, hospitals, retailers, schools and government agencies.

“Adding NComputing’s technology to our line card allows us to offer a low-cost computing option in multi-user applications for a variety of industries,” said Tom Zorn, executive vice president, Alternative Technology. “We are pleased to be able to offer these solutions to our resellers.”

“Alternative Technology brings significant channel and market reach in commercial virtualization and thin-client markets, a strong customer service focus and a reputation for providing leading solutions," said Stephen Dukker, chief executive officer and chairman of NComputing. “As enterprise users increasingly adopt our technology to reduce their capital and operating costs by as much as 70 percent, Alternative Technology will prove to be a valuable partner in supporting resellers that serve enterprise users.”

NComputing’s simplicity and ease-of-use have contributed to rapid worldwide acceptance of its solutions. More than 40,000 organizations have deployed NComputing to reduce their computing costs and electricity consumption. Ncomputing was presented with the Innovations Design and Engineering Award at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show for its newly released X550 solution.
